Home Showing and Our Pets

We set the right mood and ambiance when showing your home to potential buyers. The house should be like a blank canvas where buyers can picture themselves living, decorating to their liking, and going home. Homeowners should keep personal items to a minimum. If you are a family with pets, it is hard to imagine people not wanting to be around one. Undoubtedly, they are a part of our family, but the next house owner may have a different view.

Hide signs of your pets as you organize your home and prepare it for showings. Put litter boxes away. Get rid of the chewed-up dog toys. Remove dog beds, cages, scratching posts, and crates from public view. Keep bowls for food and drink in the cupboard or beneath the sink. Additionally, ensure your real estate photographer also moves or hides the pet accessories from the photos. Disinfect and deodorize your rugs and carpets with enzyme cleaners, or a great option is to have them professionally cleaned before showing time.

How to Create a Pet Friendly Home Showing

Curbside appeal is essential

Buyers can decide not to look inside if they don’t like what they see from the outside. Clean up messes and make sure that your yard is tidy. Check for any damages caused by your fur babies inside your home and have them repaired. Sand and paint scratches on floors and doors. Cover chewed fabrics, throw pillows, and furniture or placed in storage.

Pet-Free Open Houses

In addition, it is ideal for the house to be pet-free during open houses. A pet-free house will allow potential buyers to focus on checking the place without getting distracted. Undoubtedly, we adore our pets, however, it might cause some distractions that could not benefit our end goal: selling the property.   Having strangers around our home might also be very stressful to our pets. Therefore, it would be best if we could have some time with our pets away from our house.   Schedule a pet grooming day or have a friend or family member that your pet loves to be a pet sitter for the day.  Another great way is to visit dog parks while there is a scheduled showing on your property.

The Best for our Pets

All things considered, our pets are part of our home and the process. Hence, we need to consider what is best for them while ensuring our house is in top condition for showing. Moving can be stressful for all involved, and what can ease our stress is a plan and an excellent real estate partner. The faster we can sell the property, the faster our fur babies and we can settle.
